David Verburg is a three-time world champion in the 4x400m and the 2015 American champion over 400m. Yesterday he put his speed to good use and left his parked car to save a turtle from the middle of an intersection. He then took the turtle to safety.

Verburg attended George Mason University in Virginia, and is one of the most decorated athletes to ever participate in their track and field programme. The sprinter competed in both the 400m and 4x400m relay at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Verburg’s rescue mission is another great example of why it pays to be a runner.
