Kawauchi tweeted a couple of photos from the couple’s wedding, which featured a massive champagne fountain and a very large rectangular wedding cake decorated with a map of the world and a pair of large figurines representing the bride and groom.
そして、お互いが競技を続けていく中で、今日という日を迎えることができました。
これまで多くの方々に支えられてきたことに感謝しながら、これから2人で新しい家庭を築いていくと共に、それぞれの「マラソンの目標」も達成していきたいと思います。

Both bride and groom wore formal white outfits. Mizuguchi wore a white strapless gown, with a tiara, pearls, and full-length white gloves. The groom wore what appeared to be a white silk morning coat and pants.
Until the Vancouver Marathon two weeks ago, many people did not realize Kawauchi was engaged. He indicates that he and his bride met at the New Caledonia Marathon, which Kawauchi won last year in 2:18.

The Kawauchis received a tweet of congratulations from the Boston Marathon, which Kawauchi won in a torrential rainstorm in 2018. This year, in conditions most people would describe as the opposite of last year’s, Kawauchi finished 17th, in 2:15.
Kawauchi set a new course record of 2:15:01 at Vancouver on May 5. The next day he did the Grouse Grind in 32 minutes.
