10 reasons trail runners are just like trick or treaters

Running for treats in costume? Halloween is just a regular day for the average trail runner.

Halloween can feel like any other day for a trail runner. Like trick or treaters, trail runners can be found in the dark, moving at a steady pace, dressed in costume, and eating candy. Here are 10 reasons why trail runners are just like trick or treaters.

1. They will trade, share, or ask others for treats

2. Their regular attire looks like a costume

No need to dress up–they look scary after spending hours sweating on the trails. Their hair resembles a spider web, their feet look like the Grim Reaper, and the blood on their knees is real.

5. They will dress in costume for a 100-mile race, or any distance

The Javelina Jundred isn’t the only race party where every runner is in costume. Trail runners don’t need an excuse to train and race in costume.

6. They will train in the trails and mountains wearing costumes

A 25-mile training run is much more fun when dressed as a banana, superhero, fairy, or peacock.

7. They travel long distances by foot for food

The weather won’t stop them, and they don’t slow down after dark.
