1. There’s something for everyone

Whether it’s your first day on the trails, or you’re a professional stage racer–The Golden Ultra has something for you. Many flock to Golden for the full three-day stage race, including a 4.5K vertical kilometre, 55K, and 20K trail races. There is also the ‘half pint’ version of the stage race, which covers 45K over three days instead of 85K. This year is the 120K debut linking two 60K beautiful loops across the Columbia River valley.

2. The weather will be better there

Unlike last year, the weather in September in Golden BC is known for its brightly coloured leaves and mild temperatures, which makes the stunning singletrack even better. Although online weather sources for mountain towns can be misleading, the weather for the Golden Ultra weekend is expected to be perfect.

3. It’s worth every cent

Instead of spending your weekend at Bed Bath and Beyond, spend it on the trails. Registration includes three days of epic running in Golden, BC, well marked beautiful singletrack routes, fully stocked aid stations, drop bag opportunities, locally-sourced and customized gifts for all participants, finisher awards for each stage, customized glassware for three-day stage race finishers and Friday evening dinner to ensure you are fuelled and ready for the weekend.

4. You’ll make lifelong friends

If you’re looking for awesome people to hang out with, then head to the nearest trail race. A trail race is where like-minded people come together to puke positivity (and sometimes other things) everywhere.  It’s almost guaranteed that those you complete a trail race or trail-stage race with will be your friends for life. It’s called a trail family for a reason.

5. You don’t have to be a dirtbag

If you prefer a spa treatment over a baby wipe shower, then Golden is the place for you. The Golden Ultra has lots of options to feel fully restored and relaxed between time on the trails. Participants can register for massage, physiotherapy, meal, and accommodation packages. Those running the 120K distance can also choose to register a pacer to run with them while singing Taylor Swift songs during the race.

6. Volunteering is training

The Golden Ultra is still looking for volunteers, which means lots of perks. Whether you’re a veteran volunteer, deferring your entry, or keen to learn more about the trail running scene, volunteering is the most fulfilling way to get involved. There are opportunities to help out with everything from registration to course marshalling, aid stations, sweeping the course, etc. If you plan on helping out at an aid station, just don’t forget your onesie.
