The highly-decorated Canadian trail runner Nick Elson, who recently set an FKT on Yosemite’s Half Dome, came second in the Broken Arrow 52K in Squaw Valley, California yesterday. Elson averaged 5:51 per kilometre, finishing in 5:05:00.

The Broken Arrow 52K is a looped course that covers some of Squaw Valley’s most famous terrain. Runners ascend nearly 5,300 feet as they navigate one of America’s most rugged ski resorts.

In the women’s race, Megan Kimmel finished first in a time of 5:30:43. Second place went to Rea Kolbl in 5:48:49, and third place to Rory Bosio in 5:52:12.
In the 26K race, trail superstar Max King celebrated Father’s Day by defending his Broken Arrow title. King bested his 2017 time by about eight minutes to finish in 2:09:21.

In the women’s 26K, Danielle Moreno finished first in 2:36:45.

At an elevation of 8,750 feet, Emigrant Pass is one of the hardest segments in the race. This passage was made famous by the Western States 100, the world’s oldest 100-mile race. The Western States Endurance Run is only 5 day away, beginning on June 23rd.
Twelve talented Canadians are set to start the iconic race this coming weekend.
