Returning for its third edition on July 12, 2025 in Cumberland, B.C., this race delivers a premier trail-running experience, with scenic singletrack, tough climbs and thrilling descents. Beyond the trails, it has earned a reputation for its unforgettable post-race celebration, making it an event you won’t want to miss.

Choose your challenge

The Devil’s Ladder Ultra features three distances to suit a variety of trail runners: the 15K Fun Run, which is ideal for beginners or those chasing a fast pace; the Dirty 30K, offering a mix of technical challenges and rewarding terrain; and the Full Send 50K, a demanding course with 1,900 metres of elevation gain. Each route winds through dense cedar and fir forests, along fern-lined trails and over mossy forest floors. Highlights include panoramic ocean views, sweeping mountain vistas and even a few picturesque waterfalls.

Post-race festivities

Crossing the finish line marks the end of the race, but only the beginning of the festivities. The Devil’s Ladder Ultra’s post-race celebration has quickly become a highlight, featuring live music, local craft beers, hot food from vendors and a banana split ice cream bar. Participants stick around to cheer alongside fans until the final runner crosses the line. “One of our goals is that the runner finishing last gets the same level of cheering and excitement as the runner who finishes first,” says race co-director Jordan Brietzke.

The Devil’s Ladder Ultra is more than just a physical challenge, with all proceeds from the race going to community organizations that protect and preserve the Cumberland forest, including the Cumberland Community Forest Society, United Riders of Cumberland and Comox Valley Search and Rescue.
