How to follow the 2017 Barkley Marathons

Yes, we're at the Barkley Marathons.

Barkley Marathons

Runners, we get that you’re kind of crazy over the Barkley Marathons and we’re right there with you.

Barkley is the oddest of oddball races out there, not the mention, it’s probably the most difficult endurance challenge that there is. (What other race actually boasts about the number of DNFs?!) This kooky trail race has garnered a lot of attention in the past year from runners of all types– and from those outside of the running community too.

And that’s why, we decided to get ourselves to Tennessee’s back-country this year to bring you live coverage. Yes. Canadian Running is at the Barkley Marathons.

There are a lot of plot lines we’ll be keeping our eyes on as the weekend unfolds: will Gary Robbins become the first Canadian finisher? How far will he make it? Will this year’s event see a finisher? And who is Lazarus Lake exactly?

We’re on site this weekend finding you the best Barkley content that you haven’t already seen. Gary Robbins is in the midst of a social media blackout so that he can stay focused on the challenge ahead and we’re  standing in bring you excellent photos and video. To stay on top of the running world’s weirdest event, like us on Facebook and check out our Facebook live notifications and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. (@CanadianRunning).

If you’re just tuning in now, our editor-in-chief, Michael Doyle, has just arrived at Barkley. He spent time exploring the prison grounds featured in the race. More to come!
