Must-see on-course photos from loop four of the Barkley Marathons
Photos from Barkley Marathons camp between laps three and four as well as from the fire tower at the top of Rat Jaw.
Only John Kelly and Gary Robbins made it past the end of loop three at the Barkley Marathons in Frozen Head State Park, Tenn. Check out Canadian Running‘s photos from the end of loop three (Sunday late morning) and from Rat Jaw, a major checkpoint, on loop four. Each loop is approximately 20 miles (32K). All photos outside of camp are taken on loop four (of a possible five) of the race which involves elevation gain the equivalent of summiting Mount Everest twice.
For more information on the race and what else has happened on Sunday, make sure to check out our updates page here and for more coverage, see below. (Note in the above photos that runners must ascend and then descend Rat Jaw in an out-and-back route. They must climb to the fire tower since there is a checkpoint there, plus water.)
