Maxi González is an illustrator and comic book artist who leads an active lifestyle. His project, “SURF & COMICS”, is one that he started with co-creator Tayfun Sezer about a year ago in effort to merge his two passions of drawing and surfing to create comics. Since then, he has created seven comics that have been shared in both communities around the world.

Now though, the artist is taking his series and expanding it to cover other sports – running being one-such recently featured sport. González’s aim is to take his experience in comics to other sports and activities related to adventure and nature.

Unsurprisingly so, he has created a plot-line related to trail running, called Night Trail.

“In the comic, we try the theme of running at night in the mountains, but giving a touch of humor and fantasy to the story,” he says. That comment is a nod to an eerie scene experienced while out on the run by a runner who supposedly loved running solo at night time.

The series has originally been published in Spanish but translated for its English-speaking audience.
