Scenes from The North Face Endurance Challenge’s only Canadian trail event
The North Face Endurance Challenge's only Canadian event took place this weekend at Blue Mountain resort near Collingwood, Ont.
The North Face Endurance Challenge made its only stop in Canada this weekend at Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood, Ont. The Endurance Challenge is a series of six trail races across North America run on challenging terrain with varying distances.
The Ontario event boasts that it’s the race with the “most pronounced elevation gain in Ontario.” The site of the race is on the shores of Lake Huron at the southern point of Georgian Bay, about 145 kilometres outside of Toronto. This weekend’s race was the third edition of the event making the challenge series international.

On Saturday, the 50-miler, 50K, marathon and marathon relay took place on the slopes of Blue Mountain. The half-marathon, 10K and 5K took place on Sunday. The next stop on The North Face Endurance Challenge is Wisconsin.
Because of the challenging terrain and technical trails, times were slower for most runners versus running on the roads. Still, judging by the below photos, participants were not deterred by the tougher conditions including hot and humid weather.
The weekend also doubled as the November Project Summit, which attracted a large audience from the United States. November Project is a fitness movement that began in Boston and helps motivate people to stay physically active.
