Ultra Trail Stokely Creek 2021 is on

After it was canceled in 2020, Ontario's newest ultra trail race is back for its second year, and registration is now open

After last year’s event was canceled, the UT Stokely Creek has confirmed that the 2021 event will go ahead as planned, from September 17 to 18. This will be the second running of the event, which takes place in northern Ontario’s Algoma Highlands.

There are six different distances to choose from, so this race has an option for runners of all disciplines and levels. Participants can pick between 5K, 17K, 34K, 56K and 85K, or they can get the full experience with the 170K. Runners who had signed up for the 2020 event and deferred to the 2021 race will have first dibs on spots, but registration is now open to all Canadians in all events. In order to abide by provincial and city COVID-19 restrictions, organizers have put a participant cap on each race, so if you’re thinking about signing up, you won’t want to waste any time. If your race is full, you will have the option to choose a different distance, or to put your name on a waiting list in case anyone drops out.

The UT Stokely Creek is the perfect race for anyone who wants to get out and explore Ontario’s backcountry wilderness. The terrain features everything from soft, wide doubletrack, root-laden singletrack, long grass, serious puddles and possibly even one river crossing, depending on the weather. The race website says “It’s mid-September, so we wish you luck keeping your feet dry. Serious climbs await all distances.”
