In March 2019, Emelie Forsberg and Kilian Jornet welcomed their first child into the world. Forsberg relates giving birth to the challenges she has overcome as an endurance mountain athlete. She also explains how she and Jornet spend time with their daughter Maj while they balance training and life. The film Being an athlete and a new mum dives into parenthood, training, and the lifestyle of mountain athletes Forsberg and Jornet while at home in Åndalsnes, Norway.

Thank you all for your nice comments about the little clip beeing an athlete and new mum that we made with @suunto. I’m so lucky to share little Maj with Kilian, and for Maj to spend so much time with both of us is the way I have always dreamt of raising my children. It’s not always an easy road but together and with planning and choices it works so good 🥰 For sure the first months I could not train as much as Kilian so naturally I spent a little more alone time with her, but for the moment I think it’s 50/50! But the best time is when we spend it all together ❤️📷 @maxromey
As Forsberg ramps up her training again to race CCC-UTMB this coming August, she shares her philosophy on training, farming, gardening, and eating. Forsberg believes there is a season for everything, and has gradually begun to train as an all-round mountain athlete again. She is currently enjoying the process in order to train in a happy and healthy manner. “The progression was slow, but very stable,” she says. “I don’t push my boundaries because I prefer to take small steps.”
