WATCH: Transvulcania race is on

The 2019 Transvulcania race begins this weekend. Watch the 2018 race highlights.

Transvulcania is known as one of the toughest trail races in the world. The 74.3K, 45K, and 24.2K races in La Palma Island in the Canary Islands, Spain start May 11 at 6 a.m. DST. The 74.2K race gains 4,350 metres, and loses 4,057 metres. Perfect for Canadian mountain runner Becky Bates who will be toeing the line this weekend. “I’m starting far back in the pack of over 2,000 runners [including] lots of famous people.”

Some of the famous people Bates is referring to are 2018 winner Kelly Wolf and Salomon runner Max King. YiOu Wang, Megan Kimmel, and Cassie Scallion are just a few of the other names on the elite list of runners. Like previous years, the race is stacked again.
