Zegama Aizkorri race kicks off Salomon Golden Trail Series this Sunday
Another spectacular trail ultra in Spain sees male and female defenders returning, plus 46 other international elite racers

Some 400 runners will kick off the Salomon Golden Trail Series this weekend at the Zegama Aizkorri trail marathon in Zegama, Spain on Sunday.

The race is famous for its hot, muddy conditions and the thousands of fans who line the course, forming a human tunnel on a steep ascent at the 20K mark.
Last year’s winner, Stian Angermund of Norway, set a course record of 3:45, and last year’s top female, Maite Maiora of Spain, did the same (4:34).

The race will see a stacked field, with 48 of the top names on the men’s and women’s sides competing.
