VIDEO: Branna MacDougall sets record in debut race for Queen’s University

The Iowa State transfer wins her debut race for Queen's University, setting a course record at the Western Cross-Country Invitational

Branna MacDougall

In her first race for Queen’s University, and her first time racing within the Canadian university sports system (U Sports), Branna MacDougall controlled the Western Cross-Country Invitational the entire way to win the women’s 6K in a course record. The Iowa State University transfer who now attends Queen’s in her hometown of Kingston, Ont. ran 20:45 for the 6K to win over Western’s Kristina Popadich and Windsor’s Stefanie Smith.

MacDougall is the Canadian U20 5,000m record holder. The previous course record holder? Former Queen’s athlete and five-time All-Canadian Julie-Anne Staehli, who ran 20:51 at the Thames Valley Golf Course in 2013.
