A former track sprinter has picked up a medal in the bobsled for Canada at the Olympics in Sochi.

Heather Moyse, who was a varsity track sprinter at the University of Waterloo, and still holds some sprint records there, won a gold medal alongside Kaillie Humphries on Wednesday in the women’s bobsled.

Chelsea Valois, a former heptathlete at the University of Regina, finished 13th in the same event with Jennifer Ciochetti.

On the men’s side, Bryan Barnett, who raced the 200m at the 2008 Olympics, finished sixth in the men’s two-man bobsled with Justin Kripps.

Still waiting to compete are Cody Sorenson, who was a top hurdler at the University of Guelph, and Neville Wright, who represented Canada in the 4x100m relay at the 2007 world championships. Both will race the four-man bobsled on Saturday and Sunday.
