Andre De Grasse joins ALTIS men’s short sprint team

The ALTIS men’s short sprint crew added Canadian sprinter and Puma athlete Andre De Grasse on Wednesday.

Puma’s newest athlete, Andre De Grasse, will be joining the ALTIS men’s short sprint crew, the group announced on Wednesday morning.

“Andre has just finished an amazing season – virtually unprecedented in the history of the sport,” said ALTIS performance director/lead sprints coach Stuart McMillan. “His coaching team at USC clearly have done an exceptional job; we just hope we can build on this great momentum, and help Andre fulfil all of his objectives – not only during this Olympic season – but for many more seasons to come.”

De Grasse will be making the switch from Los Angeles, where he was previously training at the University of Southern California, and do much of his training in Phoenix with coach McMillan’s short sprint group based in Arizona, according to the release.

The double NCAA champion at 100m and 200m won a pair of bronze medals at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing (100m, 4x100m) for Canada. De Grasse also won a pair of gold medals at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto in the 100m and 200m.

The ALTIS group is already star-studded with Canadian talent including Olympian Akeem Haynes, and world championship 4x100m relay bronze medallists Justyn Warner (’13, ’15) and Dontae Richards-Kwok (’13).
