Are runners more successful than everyone else?

Nigel Wright (new chief of staff of the PMO) and Mike Ashar (CEO at Irving Oil) balance high mileage training with their prominent careers.

Brian Kaplan in the Financial Post asks: “Are runners more successful than everyone else?” Mike Ashar – CEO of Irving Oil and an ultra-marathoner – is betting on it as he pushes his employees towards a new workplace fitness program. Ashar himself estimates that he is 25% more productive thanks to his running (though it’s not clear how he arrived at that figure).

Another data point is Stephen Harper’s new chief of staff, Nigel Wright, whose 120K running weeks are described in a recent Walrus article. An inspiring read for anyone trying to balance the demands of  training with long work hours.
