Athletics Toronto in action at NCAAs and Jacksonville

Silver medals for Reid and Van Buskirk. Megan Brown 5th in Jacksonville.

Canadians Sheila Reid and Kate Van Buskirk both brought home individual silver medals from the NCAA indoor championships on March 12. Van Buskirk was second in the mile, seven tenths back from Jordan Hasay of Oregon. Reid was second in the 3000m, a tenth of a second back from the same Jordan Hasay. While Hasay dominated the individual races, Reid was able to run her down in the anchor leg of the distance medley relay on Friday night, when Reid secured victory for her Villanova team.

Both Reid and Van Buskirk will be graduating this spring, and they’re committed to returning to Toronto to train with the newly formed Athletics Toronto club.

Another group of Athletics Toronto athletes travelled down to Jacksonville, Florida for the March 12 Gate River Run. Matt Loiselle was 20th among the men, running 44:44 for 15km. Megan Brown was fifth among the women with a time of 50:49. Also racing were Lucas McAneney in 32nd and Mike Delmonte in 42nd.
