Ben Johnson joins Mayor Rob Ford’s election campaign

Ben Johnson in A Patriotic Man

In an odd and confusing  series of events today, it seems that disgraced Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson has joined Rob Ford’s campaign team.

According to sources on Twitter, Ben Johnson showed up at Toronto City Hall this afternoon to meet with the city’s mayor, Rob Ford, who has been engulfed in scandal recently surrounding crack cocaine use.

It seems the two have joined up for the upcoming election campaign.

The two of them are arguably among the most recognizable Canadians of the past 30 years, Johnson for winning a gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and shortly after being stripped of his medal for failing a drug test, and Ford for being the mayor of Canada’s largest city after admitting to using crack cocaine.
