Best and worst places to run in Canada today

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend but in some places in Canada today, the weather is more harsh than loving.

Runners on the east coast are either going to want to make a date with the treadmill or carve paths through 50cm of snow. A major storm is brewing and will hit Nova Scotia tonight. The system will bring powerful 120km/h winds by tomorrow morning. Runners in New Brunswick and PEI, can expect blizzard conditions this weekend as well as a thick blanket of snow. Newfoundland is expecting 50cm of snow on its western half this afternoon.

Many Ontario runners won’t be expecting romantic running weather either. Southern Ontario has temperatures feeling like -40C in places too — unusually cold for that part of the province. Those living around Georgian Bay better prepare themselves for snow squalls and high winds (though they won’t be hit as badly as our poor Martimes pals).

And the best place to run in the country today is likely Victoria, B.C. This afternoon, the city is expecting temperatures of around 12C. Light rain is expected in the middle of the province but the coast remains fairly dry today.
