BMO Vancouver Marathon highlights and results
Canadian men and women produced incredible times in Vancouver today in both the half and full marathons. The streets of Vancouver were busy with excited athletes and spectators this morning. Runners ran in ideal conditions with clear skies and temperatures of 10C at the start line.
Half-Marathon
Canadian runner Rob Watson was the star of the men’s race. He came first place running 1:04:48. Behind him was Willy Kimosop in second running 1:05:43. Leonard Koech placed third. He finished the half in 1:06:02. Watson was satisfied with his race time today.

Jane Murage ran a fast half-marathon as well crossing the finish first in a time of 1:12:35. Dayna Pidhoresky placed second running a 1:13:14 and Allison Macsas was just a mere seconds behind her finishing the race in 1:13:30.

Full Marathon The full marathon started at 8:30 a.m. local time. The men’s race was packed with fast athletes including Canada’s Kip Kangogo who ran a 2:19:21. Kangogo placed third after Luka Chelimo in first with a time of 2:18:37Â and Daniel Kipkoech who was behind Chelimo and finished the marathon second in 2:18:50.

The women’s race had an exciting finish as well. Lioudmila Kortchaguina was the champion this year. She ran a fast race finishing with a time of 2:37:37. Kortchaguina ran a strong marathon, running up top and taking quite the lead. The next woman to finish was Hirut Guangul (2:41:25) followed by Vancouver runner Ellie Greenwood. Greenwood ran a 2:47:23 marathon today.

The course
The Vancouver Marathon is one of Canada’s most popular marathons typically drawing a crowd of around 15,000 runners. This Boston qualifier course attracts a large group because it is an incredibly gorgeous route that takes athletes on a complete city tour of Vancouver’s most scenic spots. Today the festivities are ongoing. Runners who participate will take part in Vancouver’s action-packed street festival to celebrate their achievements.
