Bolt re-ups for $10 million a year with Puma

Usain_Bolt_Olympics_croppedThe world’s fastest man will continue to be one of the world’s wealthiest athletes until 2016.

Reuters is reporting that that the Jamaican sprinter has agreed to extend his endorsement deal with the shoe maker Puma until 2016. The new contract will pay him $10 million per year.

Bolt has said that he plans on retiring after the Rio Olympics. The new contract does have a clause in it that would allow him to continue the deal until 2017 if he decides not to retire.

There is also a a clause that would have Bolt stay on as a brand ambassador after he retires for $4 million annually.

Bolt may be tempted to continue competing into 2017, as the IAAF world championships will be a highly publicized affair in London, the same location where he cemented his legacy in 2012.
