Boston winner Lelisa Desisa to return for 10K

Officials confirmed Friday that this year’s winner of the Boston Marathon, Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa, will return to the city for B.A.A. 10K on June 23. It will be his first race since the marathon on April 15.

Desisa won Boston in 2:10:22 on a day marred forever by two explosions, killing three spectators and injuring hundreds of others.

The B.A.A. 10K is the second event of a three-distance race series, known as the distance medley.

Defending distance medley champion Kim Smith of New Zealand leads the woman’s field in the June 23 race through Boston’s Back Bay.
