Canadian 5,000m and 10,000m star Cam Levins opened his 2015 racing by stepping down in distance to contest the mile alongside his Oregon Project teammate Matt Centrowitz on Saturday. The race was held during the University of Washington’s Indoor Preview.

Centrowitz won the mile in 3:58.60 with Levins following in second with a quick 3:58:75.

Levins has represented Canada on numerous occasions and in 2012 was a member of Canada’s Olympic team. This past summer finished third in the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games in a sprint finish.

The 25-year-old from Black Creek, B.C., lives in Portland, Ore., training with the Nike Oregon Project, one of the top training groups in the world. His teammates include Mo Farah and Galen Rupp. The group is coached by Alberto Salazar, a three-time champion of the New York City Marathon.
