Canadian Brendon Rodney runs world best 200m, displays sportsmanship

Canadian Brendon Rodney, a student at Long Island University in New York City, accomplished everything there is to accomplish at the Northeast Conference track and field championships on Saturday.

Rodney, a bronze medallist with Canada in the 4x100m relay at the world championships, won the indoor 200m in a world-leading time of 20.46. He was already the world-leader in the event for 2016 having run 20.52 one week ago at Boston University.

In addition to being a world-leading time, Saturday’s 200m was an indoor personal best, conference record, track record, and Long Island University record. It can’t get much better than that.

Rodney won the most outstanding sprint athlete at the conference championships. He’s eligible to represent Canada at the IAAF World Indoor Championships at the end of March in Portland, Ore.
