TORONTO 2015 PAN/PARAPAN AMERICAN GAMES - TO2015 Unveils One-of-

This week at the Pan Am Games is a big one for Canadian runners. Many of the major running events are scheduled to run Tuesday, July 21 through the Saturday, July 25. Canadian Running magazine is going to be on the track and the marathon race course this week covering everything in real time to get running fans the news as it unfolds.

Nate Brannen broke a Canadian record over the weekend.

We know that many of the country’s biggest running fans aren’t going to be able to make to the Games in Toronto. Instead of feeling like you’re missing out and scouring the internet for recaps, stay tuned to our Instagram and our Twitter feed for photos, videos, live reporting as the athletes are running, and of course, the results.

Not sure which feed to keep the eyes glued to? Our Twitter will be a series of live snippets as the athletes are running while out Instagram is designed to show you everything Pan Am as if you were there. Think athlete warm-ups, crazy crowd support, the races and Pachi the Pan Ams mascot. Reports on major events of course will be published online as well after the morning and evening sessions.

Highlights of the week include the women’s 5,000m on July 21. Representing Canada is Jessica O’Connell and Lanni Marchant and Natasha WodakNatasha Labeaud. The women’s 800m semi-finals will also be running with Jessica Smith and Melissa Bishop racing for Canada. Matt Hughes and Alex Genest are also competing in the men’s 3,000 steeplechase. One other event for distance fans to look forward to is the men’s 10,000m with Mohammed Ahmed and Aaron Hendrikx.

On July 22, running fanatics should watch the men’s 800m semi-finals. Running for Canada will be Brendan McBride and Anthony Romaniw. The women’s 800m finals is the major thing to look forward to on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Rob WatsonJuly 23 is the day Canadians will be watching the much-loved Natasha Wodak and Lanni Marchant race the 10,000m. That’s happening at 7:40 p.m. The men’s 800m finals run at 6:40 p.m. Thursday is also the day for the 1,500m men’s semi-finals. Charles Philibert-Thiboutot and Nate Brannen are the runners to watch in that event.

Moving on to Friday, July 24, we’ve got the men’s 1,500m finals and the women’s semi-finals. Nicole Sifuentes and Sasha Gollish are Canadian athletes in the event. Erin Teschuek and Genevieve Lalonde will also be stepping onto the track to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Saturday, July 25 is the last day for watching Canadian favourites at Pan Am. The biggest event to watch for is the men’s marathon where Kip Kangogo and Rob Watson will fight to the finish. The runners take off at 7:00 a.m. At 7:00 p.m., the women’s 1,500m finals will run. At 8:50 p.m., Cam Levins and Lucas Bruchet are going to be racing in the 5,000m. It will be the final running event at the Pan Am Games.
