A day after his spokesman denied Russian doping allegations, Vladimir Putin has ordered an investigation that will target Russian dopers, according to Yahoo.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said on Tuesday that when allegations are made, they must be based on evidence before adding the accusations were unfounded.

Less than 24 hours later, it appears the allegations have merit as Putin ordered Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and all sports-connected colleagues to pay close attention to all cases of doping.

Russia faces a potential ban from the Rio 2016 Olympics after WADA released a 325-page report on doping concluding Russia had been involved in a country-wide doping program that sabotaged the London 2012 Olympics.
