Gryphons dominate distance action at CIS

Double golds for Boorsma and Cliff in Sherbrooke.

The Guelph Gryphons once again proved themselves to be Canada’s top distance running program, with lots of big runs at the CIS Track & Field Championships in Sherbrooke.

Leading the way were their two stars, Kyle Boorsma and Rachel Cliff, each of whom took gold in both the 1500m and 3000m events. For his performances, Boorsma was named performer of the meet. To underscore the extent of their dominance, the Guelph women swept the podium in the 1500m.

While Guelph dominated the longer distaces, Windsor showed their strength in the middle distance events, with wins in both the men’s and women’s 4X800m relays. Windsor’s Raeleen Hunter also took gold in the 1000m. Alberta’s Jaden Ostapowich won the men’s 1000m.
