American elite runner, Kara Goucher, one of the primary witnesses speaking out against Nike Oregon Project coach, Alberto Salazar, has claimed that 17 more witnesses have backed up her accusations of doping misconduct. Goucher, who claimed in the BBC documentary “Catch Me If You Can,” that Salazar encouraged her to take thyroid medication to speed weight loss after she returned from her pregnancy, says that 17 Oregon Project athletes have come forward to the media and that she will continue to stand by the statements that she first brought to Usada in 2013.

Salazar and his star athlete, Galen Rupp, have both spoken out, vigorously denying all accusations of doping. Salazar teamed up with his lawyers to release a 12,000 word document in response doping accusations (which we condensed for you, here). No accusations have been brought against double gold medallist, Mo Farah, or Canadian runner, Cam Levins, who also train under Salazar. Levins has stated to the media that he has never witnessed any wrongdoing on the part of his coach or teammates.

To follow the story from the beginning, check out David Epstein’s ProPublica article in which former Oregon Project assistant coach, Steve Magness, details his concerns about the actions of Salazar and Rupp.
