McGill team breaks 18-year record in New York
Over the weekend, one of McGill’s relay teams smashed a record set back in 1998.
Some fast McGill athletes produced blistering-fast times on the track at The Armory Invitational in New York over the weekend.
The Montreal school’s women’s 4 x 200 team performed incredibly well at the meet and smashed an 18-year school record.
The team, which consists of Ellen Parker, Helena Reinfels, Halla Ashby and Elliane Croce ran the relay in 1:41.95. As McGill Ahtletics reports, last month, the relay team had whittled their time down to 1:44.08.
Their weekend performance though beats the former McGill record of 1:43.26 which was set in February of 1998.
While it’s fast, the standard to compete in the CIS Championships stands at 1:40.96.
The Duke team won the event on the weekend with their women’s team placing first in 1:37.51.
