MebontheMoveBack of the pack runners got to experience elite speed and run with one of the greatest American distance runners of all-time in Atlanta at the annual Peachtree 10K.

Boston Marathon champ Meb Keflezighi started at the very back of the 60,000-runner event, one of the biggest in North America. His goal was to pass about 22,500 people in an effort to raise money for a local children’s running program.

After bobbing and weaving through thousands of runners, the 39-year-old two-time Olympian managed to get by 22,780 participants, raising an estimated $75,000. “It was a new perspective to start as the very last runner of this year’s AJC Peachtree Road Race and I’m honored to have raised money for Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometre Kids with each step I took,” said Keflezighi.

Keflezighi finished in 37:56. Americans Christo Landry (28:25) and Amy Hastings (32:16) won the Fourth of July event. Each took home $15,000 for the win.
