Micah True, the ultra runner known as Caballo Blanco, has been returned home to Colorado six months after his death.

True, who rose to fame after being featured in the book Born to Run, died in March while on a run in the New Mexico wilderness. On Friday, his loved ones gathered in Colorado to spread his ashes along some of the area trails.

According to an article in the Denver Post, about 20 friends, including True’s girlfriend Maria Walton, gathered to take the runner’s ashes to the trails he loved.

“I grieve and I cry every day for Micah,” the paper quoted Walton as saying. “But tonight he will be back among the Boulder trails he loved.”

She also said some of True’s ashes will be spread in the Copper Canyon, where True trained and started the Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon.
