“It will be an important year for me in 2016 and I’m looking forward to returning to the Great Edinburgh Cross Country to kick off my season,” Farah told the IAAF.

Farah was the winner of the long-course race the last time he competed at the Great Edinburgh International Cross Country, back in 2011. The host site, Holyrood Park, was home to the 2008 IAAF World Cross Country Championships.

The Olympic champion at both the 5,000m and 10,000m was set to race the 2015 edition in the Scottish capital but was forced to withdraw due to illness.
