Dean Potter, better known as a rock climber and alpinist, but also an accomplished mountain runner, run and climbed up Half Dome in record time over the weekend.

The ascent and descent used a combination of running, free climbing and hiking around the route noted in his picture above. The 43-year-old didn’t carry any water and finished the loop in only his shoes and shorts, according to the Adventure Journal.

Potter ran up and back down the iconic dome in the national park in 2:17:52, just shy of six minutes quicker than the previous fastest known time. The time Potter bested on the weekend was set in September of 2014 by Kyle Williams at 2:23:51
