Mutai to run Ottawa 10K

Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gillis are about to get some tough competition at the Ottawa Race Weekend 10K: Geoffrey Mutai.

Canadian runners Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gillis are about to get some tough competition at the Ottawa Race Weekend 10K in the form of Geoffrey Mutai.

Mutai won the Boston marathon in 2011 in 2:03:02, an unprecedented time for the marathon, but not a world record due to the Boston course’s elevation drop. He also won the New York City marathon in 2011 with a course record of 2:05:38.

Now Mutai is set to run the 10K during Ottawa race weekend on Saturday, May 26, according to the Ottawa Citizen. Mutai’s PB in the 10K is 27:19.

Still, Mutai will face strong competition in the 10K. Not only are Coolsaet and Gillis running, But Ethiopia’s Tadese Tola and Morocco’s Mohamed El Hachimi are also taking part in the race.
