Nick Symmonds doesn’t advance on American Ninja Warrior
American Olympian and five-time US 800m champion Nick Symmonds made a brief appearance on Monday night’s American Ninja Warrior season premiere. The appearance was brief because he didn’t do as well as he had hoped.
The hit TV show puts athletes through a gauntlet of challenges which test different aspects of physical fitness. Symmonds, earlier in 2015, was a member of the cohort of athletes that took part in the Venice Beach, Calif., qualifying rounds, though he only made it through one obstacle.
The 31-year-old track and field star fell off the rope swing and only actually appeared on the show for a few seconds.
“He did better than most of the Olympians we’ve had on the show,” the show’s executive producer Brian Richardson told TV Insider before the episode aired.” And he made a big impression on a lot of the women fans!”

Symmonds has begun racing this season with a few less-than-stellar results, though on Saturday ran 1:46:37, looking more like his usual self. He’ll be looking for a sub-1:46 world championship standard in the coming months.
