Gestev are primarily a sporting events management company, with a focus on cycling and ski races. It’s being reported that Gestev purchased a 75 per cent share, with Boucher picking up the remaining 25 per cent.

Boucher Sports owns several sporting goods store franchises, including Sports Experts and Atmosphere, in the Quebec City area.

Six events in total were sold by Marathon de Quebec Inc. After 18 years running the Run Quebec City series, race director Denis Therrien told Lifeinquebec.com, “I am proud to pass the torch to Gestev, a first choice partner to take over the lead and bring the organization toward an even higher degree of accomplishments. My team is happy to join this dynamic team for the next edition of Run Québec City.”

Apart from the SSQ Quebec City Marathon, Gestev and Groupe Boucher Sports now operate the Oasis International Half-Marathon in Lévis, the Trail du Coureur des Bois in Duchesnay, the Descente Royale, the Québec City Staircase Challenge and the Desjardins Ladies Challenge.

The SSQ Québec City Marathon is set to run Aug. 26-28, 2016 and is a popular option for those looking to attempt to get in a last minute Boston Qualifier time.
