Running community rallies for daughter of Vancouver Sun Run winner
The running community has come together to raise money for the daughter of Luke Puskedra, Penelope, who was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
Luke Puskedra, a 2016 Olympic hopeful for the United States, and his wife Trudie were informed this past week that their seven-month-old daughter Penelope has neuroblastoma, a type of cancer most common in infancy that originates in the adrenal glands.

A total of US$$54,691 has been raised by 795 people as of 9:30 a.m. EST on Feb. 26 according to the fundraising page. The goal of the campaign is $75,000.

This is amazing! Luke and Trudie are incredibly grateful for all of this support. Sweet Penelope is smiling and laughing and enjoying all the snuggles from mommy and daddy! I just raised our goal. We have almost reached our goal in less than 48 hours. A treatment plan is not in place yet but we know the treatment and all of the continued check-ups will bring more medical bills. Let’s keep this going and see how quickly we can reach this new goal. Go Team Penelope!
Luke and Trudie met while attending the University of Oregon and married soon after graduation. Penelope was born in July 2015 and all the funds raised will go to her treatment and associated medical bills.
Luke, the winner of the Vancouver Sun Run in 2015, recently competed at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials finishing fourth, one spot outside of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team.
