The Boston Beer Co., brewers of the popular Samuel Adams beer, says it plans to brew a new beer to commemorate the 2012 Boston Marathon. According to an article in the Boston Herald, the brewer will announce its partnership with the Boston Athletic Association to unveil the new Boston 26.2 Brew at a brewery on Thursday.

Don’t get too excited about sampling the beer just yet, though. Canadian runners should know the 26.2 Brew will have a slightly lower alcohol level and lighter body than other Sam Adams beers.

The beer will only be available at race-related events, and at select pubs and restaurants along the marathon route and around Boston.
