Newmarket, Ont. native Sheila Reid will be once again in the spotlight south of the border this evening at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon. The Villanova University star has been included in a deep field, which boasts two sub-four-minute 1500m runners in Americans Jenny Simpson and Anna Pierce.

Reid, a two time NCAA cross country champion, won both the 5000m and the 1500m at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship last June. Reid’s best time this season thus far has been a 4:14.27 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet, which was also her second fastest time ever in the 1500m. Her personal best was a 4:11.85 in 2011. No woman in the Prefontaine Classic 1500m has done better than 4:05 this season, however.

The women’s National 1500m will be streamed via cbcsports.ca on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:46 a.m. Eastern.
