Supreme Court decision on Oscar Pistorius set for Thursday

South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal is set to announce on Thursday whether it will overturn Oscar Pistorius' culpable homicide charge.

Pistorius is currently under house arrest after serving the first of his five-year prison sentence

A decision on whether Oscar Pistorius will be returning to jail for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp is expected to be announced on Thursday by the Supreme Court of Appeal in South Africa.

The court of appeal will determine whether to overturn the culpable homicide charge against Pistorius after the Paralympic champion shot and killed Steenkamp on Valentines Day 2013 in the couple’s home in Pretoria.

Pistorius shot four times through a locked door in the home claiming that he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder.

The South African double-amputee faces a 15-year prison sentence if convicted of murder. Pistorius was released on Oct. 19 and is now under house arrest after serving one-year of his five-year term.

Pistorius is a multiple-time gold medalist at the Paralympic Games and was the first amputee to win an able-bodied world medal winning a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the world championships in Daegu, South Korea.
