Weekend weather: Best and worst places to run in Canada

The Easter bunny isn’t making his rounds in the best of weather this weekend. Runners hoping for sunny skies for a good run on the long weekend are more likely to see flurries and rain.

New Brunswick is dark and stormy with snow and blizzard conditions. P.E.I. runners are sadly going to be braving strong, gusty winds of up to 100km/h. Nova Scotia is expecting rain so runners better be ready to get their feet a little wet.

Toronto isn’t so bad this weekend. While temperatures today are lower than yesterday’s hint of spring, skies are sunny until later this evening. Anyone living off the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario will also be seeing flurries so running conditions may be a little messy. Not as bad as the conditions in Quebec. Quebec City will be hit with snow. Montreal will see wintery weather as well.

So much for the start of spring.

Those living just west of Calgary are probably seeing the worst conditions this weekend. With Easter brings a 20cm- thick covering of snow. It’s back to the winter gear for them.

West Vancouver is cloudy and dull as well so no good news there. Today, the area should get about 30mm of rain. You could always puddle jump on your run today.

Since the news is all bad, we thought Canadian runners could envision running elsewhere. Like Port Saint Joe, Florida. Just imagine runners there enjoying the 25C weather with clear skies and gorgeous waterfront to take in. Sigh. If only. We’re just going to envy Port Saint Joe runners until out own weather picks up a little. It shouldn’t be long though.
