VIDEO: A run with high school star Cameron Ormond

Get to know one of the most successful cross-country runners in Ontario high school (OFSAA) history

Cameron Ormond

Canadian Running joined three-time OFSAA cross-country champion Cameron Ormond and two of her Newmarket Huskies teammates, Cassidy Phillips and Madison Mitten, for a run.

The three explored Sheppard’s Bush Conversation Area in Aurora, Ont. following the 2017 fall cross-country season, during which Ormond, who attends Aurora High School, won her third consecutive Ontario high school cross-country championship. In 2018, she has the chance to become the first runner to win four consecutive OFSAA girls cross-country titles. The feat of winning four OFSAA girls titles has been accomplished before, by multiple-time Olympian Kathy Butler, but not in consecutive years.

During the run, Ormond chats about her recent late-2017 races as well as the 2018 OFSAA Cross-Country Championships while Mitten and Phillips chime in on what it’s like to race Ormond and what the Grade 11 student’s racing tactics are as club teammates. The 2018 Ontario high school cross-country championships take place in November.
