VIDEO: Cousin Sal returns to prank runners at the L.A. Marathon

Watch as Los Angeles Marathon runners fall victim to Cousin Sal's creative pranks as part of a segment on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Cousin Sal was back at the Los Angeles Marathon last weekend pranking runners on Hollywood Boulevard.

On March 19, the American comedian was spotted on the marathon course handing out a variety of items to runners including crab legs, ham, crew socks and cotton candy. The scene was part of his regular appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a popular late-night talk show. The L.A. Marathon is one of the largest 42Ks in the United States with almost 20,000 finishers in 2017.

Before the halfway point of the race, and just outside the studio where Jimmy Kimmel Live! is filmed, Cousin Sal set up shop where he provided runners with some unusual methods of fuelling, among other pranks. The comedian also had a hair dryer and comb in hand and played catch with some of the racers. There were a surprising number of takers including a few runners who accepted the crab legs.

He even set up a piñata, which one runner managed to successfully break open.

The video, posted on YouTube on March 21, has been seen more than 100,000 times as of this story’s writing. As the video’s description states, “Cousin Sal volunteered to represent us by providing nourishment and encouragement to the runners passing by.”

In 2016, Cousin Sal pranked runners in an almost-identical fashion with a fake water station. You can see footage from last year’s prank here. Salvatore “Sal” Iacono, known often by his stage name, has been a fixture on the popular late-night show since 2003.
