Donovan Bailey rocks short shorts in upcoming Mr. D episode

Donovan Bailey, one of the fastest Canadian sprinters in history, stars in the upcoming episode of Mr. D, a comedy show on CBC Television airing on Tuesday.

Comedian Gerry Dee is going head-to-head with one of the fastest Canadian sprinters of all-time in an upcoming episode of CBC Television’s Mr. D.

Airing on Tuesday, Dee recalls a certain story from his high school days where he gets into a foot race with Donovan Bailey, now 48, to determine who is faster. Suffice to say that Dee had his hands full considering Bailey would go on to become, arguably, Canada’s best ever sprinter.

Bailey, the Canadian record holder in the 100m (tied with Bruny Surin) and iconic in Canadian athletics for anchoring the gold medal-winning 4x100m relay team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, rocks a pair of short shorts rather than his signature half-tights.

The first Canadian man to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m, Bailey held the world record in the marquee sprint event between 1996-1999 (9.84).

The tag line for the episode is “Gerry could have had a different life as an Olympic gold medallist,” according to the Facebook page. Gerry Dee plays Gerry Duncan, an under qualified teacher, in the show, which began in 2012.

Mr. D airs on Tuesdays on CBC Television at 9:30 p.m. EST.
