Meb Keflezighi gets his own baseball card

Meb Pitch

MebPitchMeb Keflezighi has made his way into other sports memorabilia, being honoured in a new set of baseball cards.

The 2015 Topps collection of baseball cards includes a special set of First Pitch cards featuring figures who threw ceremonial first pitches during the 2014 season.

Keflezighi threw the first pitch at the April 23 Boston Red Sox Game, two days after winning the Boston Marathon.

The 2004 Olympic silver medallist got a custom jersey, sporting number 26.2.

Keflezighi will return to Boston this year in hopes of defending his 2014 victory. Last year he became the first American to win since 1983.

Other notable figures in the First Pitch series include McKayla Maroney, Jack White, Jeff Bridges and 50-Cent.

Though it seems pretty obvious Meb should keep to the roads, there have been worse track and field athlete pitches thrown at MLB games. In 2003, Carl Lewis threw a memorably terrible first pitch in Seattle, almost equalling the low he hit when he sang the national anthem one decade earlier to open a New York Nets game.

Meb wasn’t even the worst first pitch of the 2015 card deck: 50-cent threw a real  scorcher last May.
