The trailer for "The Runner," a reality show produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, was released this past week and includes some awesome voiceover.

The official trailer for the reality show, The Runner, co-produced by actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, was released on May 9 and gives the public a clearer idea of what the show entails.

Besides the dramatic voiceover, it appears that running will play a significant role in the show in which participants attempt to run to an undisclosed city without being caught by “chasers.” Open casting for the show opened in March and remains open to U.S. residents.

The concept is similar to that of hide and seek except for runners. A $1 million prize sweetens the pot for the winner of the show. The series is expected to premiere on July 1.

According to the show’s website, the race can be described as the following:

“Somewhere in the United States, a mysterious runner will be racing toward an undisclosed city. That runner will be hunted by competing teams of chasers. It is up to the runner to use strategy and determination to avoid the chasers and make it to the target city. The task of the chasers is to find the runner before time runs out…or another group of chasers beats them to it.”

The website adds that the runner must be “shrewd, tough, physically fit, independent and great with strategy.”

In the trailer, runners are seen navigating city streets, jumping down flights of stairs and travelling on a boat in an attempt to make running as dramatic as possible. The show will be air on the Verizon network via the Go90 video application.

Unfortunately for Canadians, the casting call is open only to those living in the United States with a valid U.S. drivers license.

Damon has been involved in the running scene lately as, in addition to The Runner, he was seen running at the Surf City Half-Marathon under the alias Matthew Greenleaf, a possible connection to Jude Law’s character, Dickie Greenleaf, from The Talented Mr. Ripley.
