Watch race highlights of Reid Coolsaet's 2:10:55 performance, tied for fourth all-time among Canadians, at the Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday.

Reid Coolsaet

Reid Coolsaet was on Canadian record pace for much of the Fukuoka International Open Marathon Championship in Japan on Sunday. The 37-year-old Hamilton resident held on to run 2:10:55 after passing the halfway point in 1:05:03, pace that had him ahead of schedule relative to Jerome Drayton’s 2:10:09 record of 41 years.

Coolsaet now has three of the top-five marathons in Canadian history with his 2:10:55 on Sunday matching his 2011 time from Toronto. Only his 2015 Berlin Marathon of 2:10:28 is better, ranking him second all-time among Canadians.
