VIDEO: 2018 Barkley Marathons from a participant’s POV
First-hand look at the brutal conditions of the 2018 Barkley Marathons
Jamil Coury, a two-time fun run (three-loop) finisher of the Barkley Marathons, documented his attempt at the 2018 ultramarathon that covers more than 100 miles. There were zero finishers at the famously challenging race, which began on March 24 and concluded on Sunday, short of the 60-hour cutoff for the required five 20-mile loops, in Frozen Head State Park, Tenn.
You may know Coury for being behind the YouTube channel ‘Run Steep Get High.’ His 2018 Barkley video, which is 26 minutes in length, in particular, is entitled ‘The Year the Barkley Won,’ in reference to zero participants being able to complete the mountainous and rugged course.
